What is a QR menu?
A QR menu is a code on the table that opens your menu, usually as a web page or a PDF, on the guest’s phone. It replaces the printed cards and lets you change a price in seconds. A waiter still takes the order, writes it down and carries it to the kitchen.
What is QR ordering?
QR ordering starts with the same scan, but guests can order from the menu. They add dishes, choose options and place the order themselves. It arrives on the kitchen display with the table number on it, and guests can ask for water or the bill from the same page. See what the guest sees on Zervoo.
Which should a restaurant choose?
If you mainly want to stop reprinting menu cards and your waiters keep up fine, a QR menu is enough. QR ordering is worth it when taking orders is what slows your service down: guests waiting to order, tickets written wrong, a waiter visiting the same table three times in ten minutes. Your staff also have more time for guests, because nobody is carrying slips to the kitchen.
Do guests need an app?
Neither needs one. The QR opens a web page in whatever browser the phone already has. With Zervoo there is no account to create either. Each code belongs to one table, so the order arrives with the table number on it. More on the full flow in QR menu ordering, explained.
Definitions describe how the terms are generally used. Zervoo offers both: a Menu plan (a QR menu with up to 3 dishes in 3D and AR, from $10 per venue a month) and full QR ordering, where guests pay at the counter for now and paying from the table is on the way.

Is a QR menu the same as QR ordering?
They are different things. A QR menu only displays the menu; QR ordering lets guests place the order and ask for service from the table, with the order going straight to the kitchen.
Does QR ordering replace waiters?
It takes away order-taking and slip-carrying, not the people. Staff spend that time on guests instead, and can still enter orders for anyone who would rather order in person.
What does a kitchen need for QR ordering?
A screen in the kitchen. On Zervoo the kitchen display runs in a browser on any tablet or laptop you already own.
